HOW TO PREPARE FOR A NEWBORN SESSION

The best time to schedule newborn session is between 10 and 14 days after birth. At this stage, babies are more likely to curl up in “womb-like” poses, stay asleep longer.

What if your baby is already born and older than 3 weeks ?  Don’t worry, I am happy to photograph bigger babies. There are certain poses and props that will work very well with bigger babies.

It is best to book your newborn photo session a couple of days before your due date. Please feel free to contact me and book your newborn session.  The session it self – it usually lasts as long as I specified in the package, but it may happen that it will last longer – during this time we not only take photos, but also cuddle, carry, put to sleep, etc. If you want photos together with your child, it is best to take them at the beginning or end of the session. For the session, please bring diapers (minimum 5 pieces), wet wipes, a pacifier , favorite blanket and, if possible, half a small bottle of expressed milk. Sometimes it’s just that the baby is already wrapped and ready for styling, and you still need to feed him a little – so to avoid unwrapping, etc., it is worth taking expressed milk or formula. The last feeding should take place about 1.5 hours before the session (IMPORTANT) and it is best if the baby has not slept for at least 2-3 hours before the session (you can entertain it, etc.).

We start the session by feeding the baby, or please feed the baby just before leaving the house. Please do not make any medical appointments before the session, do not make long car rides to the store, etc. (children like to sleep in the car, and a well- rested child before the session equals trouble). If your baby’s skin is peeling a lot, it is worth oiling or creaming the body before the session. All this is crucial for a newborn session – we want the baby to sleep peacefully and for no one to be stressed when we take photos.

Of course, I’m writing about what would be ideal, but if we don’t manage to prepare according to the instructions, we’ll deal with it  🙂

           1. Rest & Relaxation : make sure you are well-rested on the day of the session. Try to avoid any physically demanding activities beforehand, as fatigue can be visible in photos. A relaxed  and refreshed look will enhance the beauty of your images.

         2. Hair & Makeup: your hairstyle should be well-groomed, and your makeup should be your favorite, but not too heavy. I don’t recommend strong, dramatic makeup, as a natural look photographs best. If needed, I can enhance certain features (like lashes or brows) during post-processing.

         3. Skin & Grooming : my camera captures every detail, including fine hairs on the skin. If we plan to showcase your belly, arms, or legs, I recommend taking care of hair removal before the session. Also, ensure your nails are well-groomed with a neutral polish—simple and elegant is always best.

         4. Choosing an outfit: For the ladies (mom / daughter),  I have a wide selection of dresses available in the studio. I just need to know your dress size and your daughter’s age. Of course, you are also welcome to bring your own outfits if you prefer.

For the men (husband / son), please prepare a white shirt or a white T-shirt paired with beige, black, or navy pants for the session. Clothes without logos, prints, inscriptions and other decorations, as they may distract attention from the nature of the photos.

         5. Accessories & Extras : most photos are taken barefoot, but you can bring your favorite shoes if you prefer. Bring a hair brush or comb, but don’t worry if you forget – I have sanitized ones available for touch-ups.

The duration of the session depends on how many people participate in it, children often need to get used to the new place and their new “aunt”.

I want this to be a fun and comfortable experience for you! I will guide you through different poses, ensuring you feel confident and at ease. Please don’t stress—I’ll help you with everything so we can capture beautiful and timeless images together. :))

The safety of your children is VERY IMPORTANT to us during the photo session. To ensure a smooth and secure experience, we kindly ask you to follow these guidelines:

         1. Full Responsibility: Parents/legal guardians bear full responsibility for their children during the entire photo session.

         2. Supervision of Children:  Please supervise your children at all times. The studio set contains electronic equipment, cables, and lighting, which can pose potential hazards if not handled properly.

         3. No Running !  No Touching the Equipment !  Children are not allowed to run on the set or touch any photographic or lighting equipment.

         4. Unforeseen Incidents: As the photographer, I am not liable for any incidents that may occur on set due to a lack of supervision of children.

         5. Safety First: If I observe a situation that might pose a risk, I reserve the right to pause the session until proper supervision is ensured.
